In other updates, thank you for your continued patience with me. By my next regular newsletter (look for it on Sunday, May the 4th be with you!) I aim to be able to tell you that 1) I have officially moved on from Book 1 of my sisters in DC contemporary romance trilogy, 2) it’s on submission to agents and editors, and 3) I’m working on Book 2! I WILL be scrappy, and I will fight through these final obstacles. You have my permission to give me a kick in the pants if I haven’t because I’ve given myself enough grace already. Ha!
I will also have pitched Book 1 to some agents earlier the weekend my next newsletter comes out, at the Washington Writers Conference, which is hosted in Rockville, Maryland by the Washington Independent Review of Books. Wish me luck! 🍀
But in more exciting updates, I attended the Washington Romance Writer’s annual retreat in Dulles, VA right outside of Washington DC this weekend! I was showered with all sorts of learning opportunities about book marketing. And with all the years I worked overseeing marketing for National Geographic TV, you know that I was totally geeking out.
So expect to see some changes in the coming months: in my newsletter (it will be more personal and exclusive!), in my social media (new types of book-based content on more platforms!), in my branding (more clear, more me, more easy-genre identification!), updates to my website, and more!

On the personal front, no major updates or travel. I was able to root, root, root for the home team (the Washington Nationals) on Opening Day and at one more ballgame, I watched and played tennis, started making avocado smashes at home in the morning, and then had to protect them from my doodles who love to steal human food, I freshened up my highlights and lowlights for the spring, had dinner parties and drinks al fresco with good friends, and in general enjoyed all the gorgeous cherry blossoms blooming around Washington DC while simultaneously trying to avoid all the tourists and crowds!
